Here are some of the older models that I have extensive knowledge of, and can help you source information and parts for. We have many parts for these older models in stock, however, if we don’t, I will be able to source the bits you need. I will be looking to get in some of the older performance models (Cavalier GSI, Astra GTE, Nova SR etc) in for breaking, so please keep checking our website under the breakers list. NOVA:
Production span: 1982/3 Y-reg to 1993 K-reg. Engine sizes: Carburetor: 1.0 (45bhp), 1.2 (55bhp), 1.3 (69bhp), 1.4 (72bhp), Single point Injection: 1.2 (45bhp), 1.4 (60bhp) Multi Point Injection : 1.6 (100bhp) petrol. Diesels: 1.5 and 1.5 turbo (67bhp) Models available: L, GL, Swing, Expression, SR, SRI, GTE, GSI, Diamond, Fling, SX, Merit etc. Available as: 3 or 5 door hatchback, or 4 door saloon. Pick of all models: 1.3 GL – well equipped, reliable fast engine, cheap insurance. Ones to avoid : early models, as they normally rot out on the inner arches, sills, and boot flooring. ASTRA MK2:
Production span: 1984/5 B-reg to 1991 J-reg. Engine sizes: (all 8 valves unless stated) Carburetor: 1.2 (55bhp), 1.3 (69bhp), 1.4 (72bhp), 1.6 (82bhp) Multi Point Injection : 1.8 (115bhp) 2.0 8v (122bhp) 2.0 16v (150bhp) Diesels: 1.6 and 1.7 Models available: L, GL, Swing, SR, SRI, GTE, LX, Diamond, SX, SXI, Merit, etc. Available as: 3 or 5 door hatchback, or 4
door saloon (known as the Pick of all models: 1.8 SX – well equipped, and a bomb proof engine. What to look out for on them: rear inner arches + sills – popular place for Mk2 Astra’s to rot out.
Production span: 1986/7 E-reg to 1994 L-reg. Engine sizes: (all 8 valves unless stated) Carburetor: 1.8 (90bhp) Multi Point Injection : 1.8 (115bhp) 2.0 8v (122bhp), 2.6 12v (150bhp) 3.0 12v (180bhp) 3.0 24v (204bhp) Diesels: 2.3 turbo Models available: L, GL, CD, CDI, GSI, Diamond, Club, Plaza etc. Available as: 4 door saloon or 4 door estate. Pick of all models: 2.0 GLi – well equipped, and a bomb proof engine. What to look out for on them: rear arches + sills – popular place for carltons to rot out. Senator ‘A’ and
Production span: 1982/3 Y-reg 1986/7 E-reg . Engine sizes: Multi Point Injection: 2.5 12v (150bhp) 3.0 12v (180bhp) Diesels: 2.3 turbo (only available in Models available: CD / CDI, GSE etc. extremely well equipped + very comfortable vehicles. 3.0 12v is a very lazy bomb proof engine. Available as: 4 door saloon (senator) or 3
door coupe ( Pick of all models: 3.0 CDI – well equipped, and a bomb proof engine. What to look out for on them: front suspension turrets – popular place for senators/monza’s to rot out, as shown below:
Cavalier Mk2:
Production span: 1981/2 X-reg 1987 F-reg . Engine sizes: (all 8v unless stated) Carburetor: 1.3 (69bhp) 1.6 (82bhp) Multi Point Injection: 1.8 (115bhp) 2.0 (130bhp) Diesels: 1.6 Models available: L, GL, CDI, SRI, SR, SRI130, LX, LXI etc. Available as: 4 door saloon, 5 door hatch, or 4 door estate. Pick of all models: 2.0 CDI – well equipped, and a bomb proof engine. What to look out for on them: sills and rear arches, front suspension turrets – popular place for cav Mk2’s to rot out. Cavalier Mk3:
Production span: 1988 F-reg to 1995 N-reg . Engine sizes: (all 8v unless stated) Carburetor: 1.4 (75bhp) 1.6 (82bhp) and 1.8 (90bhp) Multi Point Injection: 2.0 (115bhp) 2.0 (130bhp – SRI models) 2.0 16v (150bhp) and 2.0 16v turbo (204bhp) Diesels: 1.7 (57bhp) and 1.7 turbo (82bhp) Models available: L, GL, CDI, SRI, GSI2000, Expression, Club, GLS, CDX, Turbo Available as: 4 door saloon, 5 door hatch. GSI and Turbo models only available as 4dr Saloon. Pick of all models: 2.0 CDI – well equipped, and a bomb proof engine. What to look out for on them: sills and rear arches,– popular place for Cav’s to rot out. Cavalier’s are my specialty, having owned several in the past, and currently owning a cavalier 2.5 V6 CDX as a road car along with 2 other projects ( a white 1.8 GL saloon, and a J-reg 2.0i 8v GLi hatch in blue, which will be a 8V turbo when I’ve finished with it.
